Job Description:

Green Iowa AmeriCorps is a state-wide branch of AmeriCorps with host site locations throughout Iowa in the areas of environmental stewardship, education, and energy efficiency. This opportunity is open to everyone from students, career changers, recent graduates, and frequent volunteers (ages 17 and up). Green Iowa Summer Members will work with Green Iowa AmeriCorps Experiential Learning Coordinator and Whiterock staff on educational programs, visitor engagement, and land and trail management. Activities include a wide variety of tasks, such as: identifying and managing invasive species through mechanical and chemical removal; performing trail maintenance; guiding volunteers through land management projects and tasks; removing, repairing, and installing fencing, waterlines, and other infrastructure; assisting with equipment rentals, campground maintenance, and firewood processing; conducting outreach and education onsite and at events; collecting and analyzing land and visitor data via GIS and other platforms; taking photos and capturing video for social media posts and outreach campaigns; and more.
