Whiterock is thrilled to be a race location for the Liberty Bell Cup, part of the Iowa Mountain Bike Championship Series. Come August 22-23 to experience the excitement of competition. Bike races for all skill levels, including kids, novices and marathon racers, will be held. Spend the weekend and go camping, canoeing, kayaking and more fun for the entire family. Friday, July 6 at 6:30pm at the Star Field Campground with a beginner friendly mountain bike skills and race etiquette clinic followed by a short fun ride and campfire sessions with REI West Des Moines on gear, camping, and other helpful tips to help your camping experience go smoothly. Learn more about the race at imbcs.org or preregister at usacycling.org. Day-of registration for the Liberty Bell Cup opens Saturday, July 7 at 9 a.m. and is $35 per participant. Racers 18 years and younger register for free. The first racers take off at 10am and the second group starts at noon. Award winners will be announced at 3 p.m.
If you are not the race type, come to cheer them on. Spectators are welcome, and encouraged, to cheer on the racers beginning at the Star Field Campground and then on the course. It’s free to attend and free food and beverages will be provided for fans during the event.
Volunteers are also needed to help with the Fig Avenue road crossing and to help racers count their laps. To volunteer, contact Karla at 712-790-8221 ext. 1.
