Prairie Prep: Northwest Iowa Earth Week
Join our Earth Week celebration on Saturday April 23rd and engage in hands-on conservation projects on the land followed by fun and educational activities.

About the Event
Presented by Green Iowa AmeriCorps, Whiterock Conservancy, and Iowa Lakeside Labs, come join us at Whiterock Conservancy in Coon Rapids, IA on April 23rd and Iowa Lakeside Labs in Okoboji, IA on April 30th for some hands-on prairie projects and celebrate Earth Week!
This service-based Earth Week event will give visitors the opportunity to work on the land and learn about our current conservation efforts at Whiterock Conservancy. The event will and approximately 2 hours of volunteer work, followed by a break and fun activities in the afternoon.
WHITEROCK CONSERVANCY EVENT AGENDA: APRIL 23
11 a.m. - 12 p.m. Introduction to Whiterock Conservancy and Off-Trail Picnic
12:15 p.m. Begin Service Projects
2 p.m. Snack Break and Educational Activities
SERVICE ACTIVITIES
-Native Kame Prairie: Pulling invasive species (bring gloves if you have them!)
-Goats for conservation: Help with removal of invasive species and brush after goat grazing or set-up of fence before goat grazing.
-Water Quality: Sample and test water at Whiterock Conservancy Ponds.
**Project schedule is weather dependent and subject to change, registrants will be updated on the event schedule closer to the event**
