This weekend Whiterock Conservancy hosted the Iowa Gravel Classic. Cyclists rode 100 kilometers on the gravel county roads, starting and ending at the Star Field campground. The race began at 7:00 a.m. and the last finisher crossed the line just after 3 p.m.
Sarah Cooper is the director for the Spotted Horse Gravel Ultra and presented this week's race alongside Relentless Events LLC. She began racing triathlons in 2008 and started ultra distance cycling in 2013. She won the Race Across the West in 2016 and was the top woman finisher at Race Across America (RAAM) in 2018.
Warm weather and a great community of cyclists made for a fun holiday weekend. Whiterock is grateful for the opportunity to work with Sarah and to continue providing the space for events like the Iowa Gravel Classic.
