Save Our Streams Workshop - Event Cancelled due to Covid 19
Time & Location
May 23, 2020, 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Whiterock Conservancy, 1436 IA-141, Coon Rapids, IA 50058, USA
About the Event
Save Our Streams (SOS) is a fun way to test water quality in small streams by collecting chemical data and identifying underwater insects, called macroinvertebrates. The Izaak Walton League is partnering with Whiterock Conservancy to provide a workshop for those who want to become a certified SOS Monitor. Visit www.iwla.org/sos for more info about Save Our Streams.
Training will consist of a morning session, hosted indoors at Whiterock Conservancy, followed by an afternoon session practicing our monitoring techniques at a stream on the property. Dress for the weather, as we will be doing the field component in rain or shine in the afternoon. Bring your own rubber boots, waders, or old sneakers if you have them (we ask that you avoid using felt-soled waders). Note-taking supplies are suggested. Registration costs will help to provide classroom and field materials and ID books for participants.
**Don't forget to bring your own lunch to eat during our lunch break between sessions. **
Classes fill up quickly, so register now! For inquiries, contact IWLA Save Our Streams Coordinator Zach Moss at zmoss@iwla.org.
