About the Event
Soil degradation is one of the most important environmental issues in Iowa, the #1 state for both corn and soybean production. In response to a growing need for soil education, World Soil Day on December 5th, and the International Decade of Soils (2015-2024), Whiterock Conservancy will be hosting a soil education webinar titled “Soils with Kathy Woida” on December 14th, 6pm CT. Kathy Woida is a NRCS soil scientist and published author of “Iowa’s remarkable soils”. This month, she will be working partially at Whiterock Conservancy as our very first Scientist in Residence. Participants will learn about soil properties, biology, soil in Iowa, and the critical issue of soil degradation and how we can protect this vital resource.
Whiterock Conservancy is committed to soil conservation through our sustainable agriculture and land conservation practices that benefit soil health. And most recently, the establishment of Whiterock’s Soil Health Conservation Easement Program. By attending this webinar, friends and supporters of Whiterock will have the opportunity to join us in the effort to spread soil health education and awareness. We hope you will join us for this exciting opportunity to learn more about the ground beneath your feet!
